Call to Action: Tell Congress to Protect IDEA

We are telling Congress: Protect Children with Disabilities & IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.)

The U.S. Department of Education has eliminated hundreds of positions through an illegal Reduction in Force (RIF) — a move that guts the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) and the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), which oversee implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These cuts jeopardize services for more than 8 million children with disabilities nationwide.
This reckless action dismantles the federal infrastructure that ensures every child’s right to a free, appropriate public education. It violates the intent of Congress, which created IDEA to guarantee that children with disabilities receive the stability, oversight, and support they deserve — regardless of political winds.
By decimating the Department’s core special education offices, this administration is sending a dangerous message: that children with disabilities are expendable. The result is confusion, chaos, and instability in schools and districts across the country.
Please join us and CP State by writing to your members of Congress to pressure the U.S. Department of Education to immediately reinstate IDEA and ESEA staff and restore the systems that protect students with disabilities.
Together, we must defend decades of progress — and make clear that the rights of our children are not optional.

This link via CP State, will compose a message for you and only takes a few seconds to complete.
Thank you for advocating with us and helping us move forward together.
